Enevo FAQ

Enevo FAQ gives answers to the most common questions about Enevo. If you have a question not addressed below, don’t hesitate to contact us – we’re here to help.

Can the sensor be installed in any container?

We support over 100 common container types. Typically the sensor can be installed as long as there is cellular coverage available and no obstacles in front of the sensor.

Can the solution be used for any waste type?

Currently we support the following fractions: Mixed waste, Paper, Cardboard, Glass, Metal, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), Textile.

Does the sensor need to be plugged into an electricity outlet?

No. The sensor has high performance lithium batteries and will work independently without a connection to the electrical grid.

How is the measurement data transferred?

The sensor uses standard wireless cellular network technology (2G/3G) to transfer the data from the sensor to Enevo servers.

Do I need a wireless subscription for the sensors?

No. Enevo has global agreements with all major wireless cellular carriers and all wireless network traffic is included in the monthly subscription fee.

Does the sensor tell me if somebody moves my container?

Yes, the sensor sends an alert if the container is moved out of the assigned area.

Can I move around containers with Enevo sensors?

Yes, our system supports updating the container location.

Can the sensor sense anything else than the fill level?

Yes. The sensor includes a temperature measurement unit and can alert in case of rapid temperature increase (e.g. due to fire). It also has a highly accurate movement sensor that can detect even a slight movement (e.g. due to vandalism).

What distances can the sensor measure?

From 25 cm to 400cm (10″ to 157″).

Does the sensor work in hot/cold weather?

Yes, the sensor has been designed for and tested in extreme temperatures and works in the temperature range from -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to 185°F).

How long will the battery last?

The battery life is over 10 years in optimal circumstances. The battery life vary depending on how frequently the sensor communicates with the network and various measurement circumstances such as configuration, wireless signal strength and temperature.

Does the sensor need any maintenance?

No, the sensor is fully maintenance free and its internal state is monitored remotely by Enevo cloud servers and support staff.

What is the contract length for using the Enevo service?

We offer service plans starting from 1 years all the way up to 10 years. A longer contract will give you a lower monthly subscription price and peace of mind.

Is the sensor waterproof?

Yes, the sensor enclosure has an IP-66 rating that makes it water and dust proof. It is also designed to withstand water jets from pressure washers while cleaning containers.

What are the most typical benefits for customers?

Typically customers report a reduction of collections costs between 20-40%. Other common benefits include reduced overfill and visibility into waste management operations. See Enevo solution page for more details.

How does the sensor measure?

The sensor measures using Enevo’s proprietary ultrasonic technology specially designed for measuring different waste fractions.

What are the dimensions and weight of the sensor?

58/61mm (H) x 95mm (W). Weight 498g (1.09lbs).

Is it easy to install the sensor?

Yes. Enevo provides a full installation manual and a video with detailed instructions on the installation procedure. We also provide custom tools that make the installation easy and secure. There is also a mobile application that guides through the installation process. An experienced field technician can do the installation in just a few minutes.
